What type of custom domain would you like to connect to your Proseful blog?

Use a custom "naked" domain

Follow these steps if you want to connect a "naked" domain like yourdomain.com to your Proseful blog.

1. Add your domain to Proseful

This step identifies you as the owner of the custom domain.

  1. From your Proseful dashboard, go to Blog settings.

  2. In the Custom domain field, enter the custom "naked" domain that you want to connect, such as yourdomain.com.

  3. Click Save changes.

2. Point your domain to Proseful

This step identifies Proseful as the host of your blog.

  1. Log in to your domain provider account.

  2. Find your DNS settings.

  3. Create an A record that points to 3.18.177.81.

  4. Create another A record that points to 18.217.83.39.

  5. Create a CNAME record for www that points to cname.proseful.com.

  6. Save the changes.

You should now have the following DNS records for your domain:

A @ 3.18.177.81
A @ 18.217.83.39
CNAME www cname.proseful.com

A note on redirection

With this setup, Proseful will automatically redirect requests for www.yourdomain.com to yourdomain.com 👍

Use a custom "www" domain

Follow these steps if you want to connect a "www" domain like www.yourdomain.com to your Proseful blog.

1. Add your domain to Proseful

This step identifies you as the owner of the custom domain.

  1. From your Proseful dashboard, go to Blog settings.

  2. In the Custom domain field, enter the custom "www" domain that you want to connect, such as www.yourdomain.com.

  3. Click Save changes.

2. Point your domain to Proseful

This step identifies Proseful as the host of your blog.

  1. Log in to your domain provider account.

  2. Find your DNS settings.

  3. Create an A record that points to 3.18.177.81.

  4. Create another A record that points to 18.217.83.39.

  5. Create a CNAME record for www that points to cname.proseful.com.

  6. Save the changes.

You should now have the following DNS records for your domain:

Follow these steps if you want to connect a subdomain like blog.yourdomain.com to your Proseful blog.

1. Add your subdomain to Proseful

This step identifies you as the owner of the custom subdomain.

  1. From your Proseful dashboard, go to Blog settings.

  2. In the Custom domain field, enter the custom subdomain that you want to connect, such as blog.yourdomain.com.

  3. Click Save changes.

2. Point your subdomain to Proseful

This step identifies Proseful as the host of your blog.

  1. Log in to your domain provider account.

  2. Find your DNS settings.

  3. Create a CNAME record for blog (or whichever subdomain you want to use) that points to cname.proseful.com.

  4. Save the changes.

You should now have the following DNS record for your domain:

Next steps

That's it. It can take up to 24–48 hours (although usually much less) for domain changes to take effect, so you may have to wait a bit.
